In my many travels through the desert areas of the west, I loved seeing sunrises in the desert as it seems to create a mystic glow across the sands, cacti and sagebrush. “Sagebrush Sentinels – Desert Bighorn Sheep” is an original oil painting of two desert bighorn sheep keenly alert of the surroundings. With this painting of soft subdued colors and warmth of the desert scene, as the sun rises the two bighorn sheep have focused in on something within the area giving beauty to a harsh environment.
Desert bighorn sheep can spot predators from a long way off as they have excellent eyesight. They will even break off the end of their horns on rocks to give them an unobstructed view of the area. Since they live in areas where water can be scarce they eat a variety of vegetation to get the moisture they need until they find a water hole or a small pool of water among the rocks. What a sight to see!!!!
