These bighorn sheep stand within brush and grass cautiously watching something to their right. There are cactus and other desert plants in the distance of this Western scene.
The sheep's horns were painted showing deep detailed ridges giving them a strong and powerful appearance. Their white muzzles come forward in the painting making a wonderful contrast to the grays, tans and grayish-blue of the painting.
Desert bighorn sheep can go for extended periods of time without drinking water, as they have adapted to the desert climate. Usually seen in herds of about 8 to 10 as they are considered to be social animals. They also, have very keen eyesight to detect potential predators, such as mountain lions, bobcats and coyotes.
