The dark background of this painting contrasts dramatically with the snow which has patches of detailed yellowed grass poking throughout the snow. The horizon line divides dark from light and leads the observer's eye directly to the eyes of the fox. This clever looking fox was rendered in layers giving it the appearance of having a thick shaggy coat and fluffy tail. |
