This rutting brute inspires fear and respect as he guards his harem. In a show of his authority, he curls his upper lip and stares down all rivals, this bison has a large attitude to match his frame. Using multiple layers of oil paint, I gave Formidable the appearance of having dense fur that resembles a thick, soft carpet covering his face, head and shoulders. The different hues of the clouds of dust add to the three dimensional aspects of the painting and gives the painting movement, these dust formations were created by using a dry brush technique.
