In this moonlit scene a cougar stealthily descends a snow-covered mountainside. He has heavy fur speckled with snow and to achieve this affect I used layers of paint to create density which covers his form from his ears to his thick bushy tail. There is a detailed snowcapped rock formation in the foreground, grey mountains were added to the background giving depth and dark pine trees add contrast to the cougar securing his position as the focal point of this painting.
